After seeing CONTENT's work at the Houston Loft this young couple engaged us to renovate their bathrooms in their own downtown apartment. We raised ceiling heights and brightened wall materials to allow light to reflect through the space. In the Master a dark alcove tub was replaced by a glass shower enclosure on a concrete platform which echoes the concrete vanities. Large format Neolith tiles on the floors set a cadence through each bath, scale shifting with the particularities of each use. In the Guest Bath the entry was shifted away from the Dining to be more private and a freestanding tub was placed on axis. The accent tile on the back wall defines the boundary of the bathing areas while a backpainted glass panel negotiates the transition between wet area and drywall. A wall of stained walnut millwork provides the necessary storage and a visual anchor while tucking the toilet room away in privacy with an integrated pocket door.
